Diabetes Alert

If you are a diabetic you should have your urine checked for a substance called microalbuminuria. This is a simple urine test to detect protein in your urine. If you have an excess amount, which is a complication of diabetes, this can be an indication that you have a kidney disease called diabetic nephropathy, and diabetic nephropathy can lead to kidney failure. If you do suffer from this condition, the American Diabetes Association, as well as most diabetic specialists, recommend that you be placed on a medication called an ACE inhibitor. If you have diabetes, this simple urine test is a must to help you prevent kidney disease and failure!
